Within a network, members can have one of three possible roles: Operator, Researcher, or Viewer.

Role definitions

Operator

A network operator is someone who can manage the network including:

  • invite and edit network members

  • edit and manage network devices

They have all permissions that belong to a Researcher with the additional permissions listed above. Any organization admin is, by default, a network operator for all networks within an organization.

Researcher

A researcher is a member who can view and download the raw, uncalibrated data for any device that belongs to the network.

Viewer

A viewer is a member who can view and download the final, cleaned data for any device that belongs to the network.

Managing Member Permissions

Invite a new member

To invite a new member to a network, navigate to the Members page of the network settings. Click Invite Members which will open a modal that contains an invite form. Select one or more users to invite and select the role that they should have and click Add Members. If the user is already a member of the organization, they will be automatically added to the network. If they are not, they will be invited to the organization

Update the role of an existing member

To change the role of an existing network member, navigate to the Members page of the network settings. Next to each member's name in the members table, you will see a dropdown button that contains all role options. Use this button to select the desired role.

Remove an existing member

To remove an existing network member, navigate to the Members page of the network settings. Next to each member's name in the members table, you will see a button labeled Remove. Click Remove to remove the member from the network.

NOTE: this will not remove the member from the organization - only the network. To remove the member from the organization, you must be an organization admin and follow the instructions outlined in this article.
